General Information

On this page, you will find a working strategy to defeat Eonar the Life-Binderin Antorus, the Burning Throne for both Normal and Heroic modes, which usually only differ bythe tuning of the boss.

Here, we assume that you have read our descriptionsof the abilities for this encounter.

The other pages of our Eonar the Life-Binder guide can be accessedfrom the table of contents on the right.

1.

Positioning and Strategy

The encounter is started by a player speaking with theEssence of Eonar.

There are three lanes that lead to the Essence of Eonar; a lowerpath, a middle path, and an upper path. The Legion ground forces will alwaysspawn at the end of the path, opposite the Essence of Eonar. Players can maketheir way between the lanes quickly and easily using Eonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (1) Surge of Life, which is on the Extra Action Button. This allows for brief flight, sending theplayer high into the air and then gliding forwards.

The order of portal spawns is fixed, as is the timers for their spawns. The timers are expedited, however, if all Legion ground forces are defeatedand the raid has nothing to attack. The minimap displays the location ofnew portals opening to deliver Legion ground forces, but this can sometimesbe confusing due to the multiple levels present in the arena. Currently thecomplete order is unknown, but based on our testing from PTR the first fewwaves are as follows:

  1. Middle path: Fel-Infused Destructor + waves ofFelguards and Fel Hounds
  2. Upper path: Fel-Powered Purifier (Heroic only) + waves ofFelguards and Fel Hounds
  3. Lower path: Fel-Charged Obfuscator + 2x Fel Lords andwaves of Fel Hounds
  4. Middle path: Fel-Infused Destructor
  5. Lower path: Fel-Charged Obfuscator + 2x Fel Lords andwaves of Fel Hounds
  6. Upper path: Fel-Infused Destructor + 2x Fel Lords andwaves of Fel Hounds
  7. Airborne: Volant Kerapterons

The raid will often have to split into two groups to deal with the portalsquickly enough that the adds can be killed before they reach theEssence of Eonar. How you split the raid is up to you; an even split ofTanks, Healers, and DPS is fine, for example. The most important thing is toensure both groups have enough crowd control to keep the adds under control.Affliction Warlocks using Eonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (2) Sow the Seeds andEonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (3) Sacrolash's Dark Strike are highly effective on this fight, as they canalmost solo the waves of adds (excluding Fel Lords) while keeping allof them permanently snared.

A highly effective strategy is to send one healer, one tank, and a smallhandful of potent AoE DPS with at least one that also provide mass crowdcontrol (e.g. Warlocks, Death Knights, Fire Mages) to new portals. The rest ofthe group remains behind to finish the currently active mini-boss while the AoEteam clears out the waves of little adds. The rest of the group then joins theAoE team to clean up the latest mini boss while the AoE team heads to the nextportal to spawn.

The Volant Kerapterons have the most limited time window for whichthey can be hit, as they can take a more direct path and are often not inrange of the lanes. They are usually easiest to hit from the middle path andare best dealt with by classes with strong multi-DoT, such as Shadow Priests,Warlocks, and Balance Druids.

Players should be sure to get away from anyone targeted withEonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (4) Rain of Fel to avoid unnecessary damage. On Heroic difficulty,Eonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (5) Spear of Doom will occasionally fixate on a player. Be sure to kitethis beam along the edges of the lanes, rather than down the center, as thefel energy it leaves behind increases the movement speed of Legion forces.

2.

Tank Concerns

Tanks always need to be the first to portals that spawnFel-Infused Destructors and Fel-Powered Purifiers. Purifiers needto be faced away from the group at all times, while Destructors need theirEonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (6) Artillery Strike to be interrupted each time it is cast.

Some Tank classes, such as Blood Death Knights, can provide excellentmass crowd control. Be sure to evaluate your class and specialization foruseful tools, as many unused talents have a unique place on this encounter(e.g. Eonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (7) Mass Entanglement).

3.

Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp

There is no definitive moment whereEonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (8) Bloodlust/Eonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (9) Heroism/Eonar the Life-Binder Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic (10) Time Warp makes a major impact onthis fight. If you are wiping, consider where your greatest struggles are andadjust your usage to match. A good default usage is on the first upper pathspawn as the Fel-Powered Purifier is quite tanky, and a set of addsspawns on the lower path very shortly afters, making it an effective point forboth groups.
